Our Religion

As the sunlight fades
And night appears
To our apartment,
With gin and cigars,
We go and stay
For our religion.

We open the cigars
And light the fire
Each with one stick
Inhaling the smoke
The incense
Of our religion.

With stupid smiles
We tell comic stories
Laughing as we go
We then drink the gin
The blood and wine
Of our religion.

As our sobriety fades
We grow famished
Opening our pantry
We ate the leftovers
The communion
Of our religion.

As time flies by
In drunken stupor,
We go to bed, in pairs
Speaking words of lust
The marriage
Of our religion.

As we awoke,
We saw the mess
Bottles and cigars
Food and the rubbers
The essence
Of our religion.
